Jolie-Pitt Foundation

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have formed the Jolie/Pitt Foundation to aid humanitarian causes around the world. The newly formed charitable foundation is giving away $1 million to the Global Action for Children and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, to help families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.

The U.S. director for Global Action for Children, Jennifer Delaney, said: “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying.”

The couple’s spokesman, Trevor Neilson, released a statement saying: “Angelina and Brad are committed to using their resources to help the world’s most vulnerable people. These two organizations are focusing on crises that receive far too little attention and Angelina and Brad are happy to do their part to help.”

And here’s a list of Brad and Angelina’s Banksy art purchases:

* $226,000: The “Picnic” painting depicts a white family of four merrily lunching under an umbrella on a red checked blanket while 15 starving Africans - including several children with distended bellies - look on.
* $75,000: A white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead - was a particular favorite of Jolie’s. “She went nuts for that one,” an onlooker told the mag. “She told [her baby daddy], ‘I must have that one.’”
* $75,000: Portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie.

What an amazing couple how inspiring how clever of them to get Hello magazine to give 7.5 million to their charity, Iread about what the charity did for kids in Darfur etc. If only more people in the world lived like them.

I am proud to know that Angelina & Brad have named their daughter after me. My name is Vivienne Shaw (also Viv for short) and I live in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines in the West Indies (Caribbean). I wish that more celebrities would follow in their step and contribute to charitable foundations. What a couple? My daughter wish that they name their next daughter after her. Her name is Rhea Shaw.

What did they do in Darfur? I know about the speeches and video clips on TV. But what did they actually do in Darfur? Where can I read about it?

Hi! I think that it is great that you bring attention to others of what the Jolie-Pitt Foundation is doing to aid humanitarian causes that are highly important for the world to be aware of.
But then you try to make them look bad by stating their "banksy art purchases" as if it is a crime for them being human and enjoying the luxuries that they have every right to desire. Tell me, when was the last time you donated millions to a humanitarian cause or better yet, gone abroad to help those in need?

Dear Karin,

I think you're totally on the wrong track. I'm not "trying" to make them look bad. I'm just informing people about the updates about Jolie-Pitt foundation and that's all. If I had such intensions as you mentioned in your comment, I'd dedicate the entire blog about it don't you think ?

Just take a general look at my blog and you'll notice that I've got nothing against neither Angelina nor Brad.
Best Regards,

Yes I agree with you johnnyangel I seen nothing in your original post that reflected any bad feelings toward the foundation for their purchases. Maybe Karin has some other problems that she wishes to blame you for lol....

It is great to see such succesful actors actually caring for the people in need. Their donations will help many. If I could reach them directly I would recommend they also donate or offer a product that would greatly help the Global Health Committee give these people and even greater chance to have a sense of well being. Medications for AIDS/HIV fight the disease, ZRII builds the bodies immune system and detoxis it. This would be a great base for all the victims in that area. Unfortunatley I can not talk to them dirrectly or through their spoke person. Any way if they were interested they could find out more information through teresajones.myzrii.com. If they agreed that this product is benifical to the AIDS/HIV victims then perhaps they could get Bill Farley to make a donation or others that are involved with the ZRII Orginaztion to make donations.
I don't mean to rattle but if someone is making the effert to do good, then they need all the help they can get in all areas that would help the victims.

Hello,
I am seeking some assistance if you will? I watched an amazingly heart wrenching HBO documentary last evening, it was called WHICH WAY HOME. The story moved me so much, that I don't feel okay just leaving it just that...as having watched a movie. I feel I want to try and assist somehow. The documentary was about abandon children from the Guatemala/Mexico area they ride on the top of freight trains trying to smuggle into the USA, some have their parents give strangers money to be smuggled and many of them die. Many of these traveling children are killed for obvious reasons, never mind the torture and corrupt law enforcement they face, they are raped...stole from and a host of other horrible things. As far as the movie showed there is no safe house/shelter/group home or a safe haven for these children. There were kids as small at 8 yrs old who had already lived on the streets for years, dreaming of a new life a new hope in the USA. I have watched many documentary's in my life...but non that have moved my soul such as this one has.

First I would like to say, I think it's an absolute shame, that in this world of ours the resources available without being already wealthy is a disgrace. Just because I am a regular person doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to make a difference. My youngest daughter said mom...why doesn't everyone buy like a lottery ticket for drawing once a month and give all those millions of dollars to help, or to our national debt...I thought wow' what a concept.

I do have ideas of how I would like to help. However with that said I have no idea where to start, I am a spouse to an Active Duty Military Member, with limited funds...but with great wishes to make a difference. So I am asking for help' these poor children's spirits and hopes are gloomy and hopeless for the most part. I was so torn by the honesty, and willingness of the dreams these children have, that I felt it would be unethical as a human, a mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt not to fight as they are for these little souls.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I pray someone knows something, so maybe someone from the USA can help those precious babies so far away.

This couple is so inspiring. They give me so much hope. They and others like Oprah and Bill Gates put their money where their mouths are. They are infected with the bug of service and love for their fellow humans. The best bug there is, ever. What they do is the ONLY answer to this earth's problems in this lifetime of theirs. I am so proud of them. I so identify with their need to correct the inequalities in this globe. May the God of their understanding keep them healthy, prosperous and always, always open and sensible to the overwhelming suffering here and abroad.

I really adore celebrities who take time to help unfortunate children. I hope that all celebrities will do the same. They can make a big difference to the life of the orphan and street children.
